On 9 March 2026, during British Science Week, the University of Portsmouth partnered with STEMunity, Delta Smoke Control, and the National Education Union (Portsmouth branch) to deliver the “100 Future Scientists for Portsmouth 100” event. University students and researchers supported 107 primary school pupils from schools with high levels of EDI need through hands-on STEM activities, including the launch of the Big Plastic Count, helping to inspire future scientists while strengthening links between research, education, and the local community.
