STEM Academy North teacher partners win big

Two of our amazing teacher partners who are working on our STEM Academy North careers workshops were winners and highly commended at the STEM Learning Inspiration Awards 2022

Congratulations to Leonie Briggs for winning the New STEM Ambassador Award

Leonie Briggs is a science teacher and STEM lead at Delta Darton Academy. Leonie runs a STEM club in her school and used to be a vet and so trained to be a STEM Ambassador through STEM Learning. Leonie is now the director of her own STEM educational organisation, Amazelab, which puts a fun & creative take on all things STEAM. Amazelab has since gone on to win many prestigious awards from the Club Hub UK ‘Startup Business of the Year 2022 award’ to the Theo Paphitis ‘Small Business Sunday 2021’ award.

Enthuse Partnership Deputy Lead

Leonie is the deputy lead for the Wales High School Enthuse Partnership which is working on developing the STEM Academy North careers workshops with STEM industries in South Yorkshire. We are so happy for her regional win and wish her the best of luck at the national awards.

Congratulations to Georgina Wharton for being highly commended for Excellence in School and College Leadership in STEM

Georgina Wharton is the Director of Science and Technology at  Parkside Community School. Georgina is an Evidence Lead in Education for Derby research schools and is a part of the Senior Leadership Team in her school. Georgina is a teacher of Design Technology and Engineering and runs many STEM events in her school for her students.

Enthuse Partnership School Lead

Georgina is a school partner for the Wales High School Enthuse Partnership which is working on developing the STEM Academy North careers workshops with STEM industries in South Yorkshire and Chesterfield. We are so happy about her commendation and are we love that Gran was able to attend the event as her plus one. “It was a really great day and so nice to hear about all of the fantastic work going on in STEM. I was sat with two really interesting STEM ambassadors who are involved in the nuclear industry and coding”.
